Panelists:
Timothy Damschroder: Partner, Bodman Law Firm. Tim specializes in dealing with high-tech companies from start up, to transactions involving intellectual property, to venture capital financing, to eventual sale or IPO. His corporate finance work includes debt and equity financing (venture capital and angel investments), and derivative transactions including ISDA documentation, master agreements, interest rate swaps, currency swaps and other foreign exchange transactions (FX transactions), and options. Tim serves on a number of boards.
Chris Rizik: CEO, Renaissance Venture Capital Fund. Chris is the Chief Executive Officer of the Renaissance Venture Capital Fund, a venture capital fund of funds that was formed in late 2008 by a consortium of several of Michigan’s largest corporations, working through Detroit Renaissance. Chris previously was a partner in two of the region’s largest venture capital funds, with $200 million under management, and is currently the Chairman of NextEnergy, the State of Michigan’s alternative energy economic development organization and accelerator.
Eric Sieczka: Co-Founder and President & CEO, Pixel Velocity, Inc. Eric is a successful serial entrepreneur. His experience ranges from technology creation to product development, operations management, and financing. In addition to building Pixel Velocity, he recently spun off a new venture, Epsilon Imaging, which is commercializing the next generation of medical ultrasound that promises to revolutionize cardiac healthcare. Prior to Pixel Velocity, he co-founded EOTech Inc, which was sold in 2005 to L-3 Communications, a $12B public company, for just under $50 milllion. Mr. Sieczka has eight patents and holds a BSEE degree from Kettering Institute and an MBA from the U-M Ross School of Business.

Skip Simms: A Director of Ann Arbor SPARK, Skip works with Business Accelerator, early stage technology companies, preparing them for equity fund raising. Skip was successful in raising an $8 million Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund, the largest state 21st Century Jobs Fund program; he is currently the administrator of this fund. Prior to his role at SPARK, Skip was the Managing General Partner at the Ralph Wilson Equity Fund, which is a $31 million fund-of-funds with LP investments in five venture capital funds and six side-by-side direct investments. Skip participates on both profit and non-profit boards, and was a founding member of the Michigan Venture Capital Association.
