Detroit Development Fund

Detroit Development Fund is a non-profit organization and a certified community development financial institution formed with a mission to assist in the revitalization of economically distressed areas in the city of Detroit. Detroit Development provides loans and technical assistance to small business owners, developers, building owners, contractors, and subcontractors who are unable to acquire certain levels of capital necessary from traditional financing sources. We deliver our products and services with the goals of revitalizing businesses and neighborhoods in Detroit, Michigan, creating economic equity, and promoting a healthy environment.

Eastern Michigan University Center for Entrepreneurship

Established in 1986, in the College of Business, EMU's Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) strives to enhance a culture of entrepreneurship in the EMU community by supporting a strong entrepreneurship curriculum and offering a variety of co-curricular programs. The CFE also encourages local entrepreneurship by engaging EMU students and faculty in innovation, business creation and growth in southeast Michigan.

Academic Curriculum

This includes a major in entrepreneurship for College of Business (COB) students pursuing a bachelor's in business administration (B.B.A) program, a minor in entrepreneurship for students outside the COB, graduate certificate (both face-to-face and online) in entrepreneurship for anyone with a bachelor's degree and finally, a specialization in entrepreneurship for master's in business administration students.

Skandalaris Business Plan Competition

University (and high school) students compete in separate categories for a chance at thousands in prize money, with the top three placers presenting their plans at the Sesi Entrepreneurship Conference in February. All EMU students are eligible to compete and we happily accept plans that are part of a group project for class. 

 

MI SBDC

The Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) enhances Michigan's economic well-being by providing counseling, training, research and advocacy for new ventures, existing small businesses and innovative technology companies. With offices statewide, the MI-SBTDC positively impacts the economy by strengthening existing companies, creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs, and assisting companies in defining their path to success.

Michigan Angel Fund

The Michigan Angel Fund is the largest angel group in our state. We invest in Michigan only tech start-ups that are capital efficient and have sales revenue or near revenue.
